A Damaged Online Reputation:  What You Can Do To Repair It!

Attacks against a company or individual can have a profound effect both on and off the Internet.   Why would anyone attack your reputation on the Internet?  Here are a few examples of why a person or company would attack you without a legitimate cause:

 Granted all attacks against a company's or individual's reputation are not always unfounded.  The methods often used to repair a damaged online can also be used with Search Engine Optimization (SEO).  But there is a difference.  For example, SEO is often used to push a website high in the Search Engine Optimization results (SERPs), within a Google specific search.  For example, you want your website to be seen on the first page of the SERPs.  You will want to have a SEO specialist promote your website so that it lands on the first page.

In contrast, an Online Reputation Manager (ORM) with try and dominate the first page.   An ORM will use Web 2.0 and Web 3.0 properties to push any negative content off the first page.  For example, properties like Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin can be used for this purpose.  Imagine that it is easy to promote these powerful authority sites so that they land on the first.  So, now there is 3 out of 7 positions in the SERPs owned by your client.


Now consider that you use Blogger.com as another property.  Blogger.com is an authority blog and is very powerful.  A little promotion and you can now have 4 of the 10 positions on the first page.  It is pretty easy to find 10 very powerful authority sites to promote.  The key to success here to have all ten positions in the SERPs on the first page.
